Nothing much is going on up here, where I'll be stuck for the next hundred years. There's plenty for Daevas like you to do though.

I don't get it. When Otur volunteered for Katalam, I thought I'd go with him so we could be in the thick of it together. But I always seem to end up in some administrative position.

Then we got assigned to the Idean Depths, I thought for sure I'd see some action. There are so few of us down here, even an administrator must be able to swing their sword on occassion. But nothing!

"No, Brif. We need a smart Daeva like you up at a good vantage point, observing enemy units and making sure new Daevas know where to find me. Be a good brother, Brif."

Well, I'm sick of being a good brother.

I don't know. I think I just need to get away from Otur. We're twins in every way--same height, build, abilities, everything. But his wings spread a wide shadow.

I think I need to send directly to Stellman next time. Our mother didn't ascend, but our family comes from old Daevic stock. My name should have some pull with him.

Or maybe I should just throw in with Faun and the Redfang Squad. They're unconventional, but what has playing by the rules gotten me so far?
